Studies News AS and A2 GCE Results for 2008 were released on 14 August 2008. Our congratulations on the outstanding results that the candidates received. The astonishing figures were that 95% of candidates scored A or B in the A2 examinations and at AS level 85% of candidates scored Grades A or B. This is one of the best set of results that we have recorded in the past few years. The results were for a total of sixty five candidates who sat GCE examinations in 2008. Well done class of June 2008! Our thanks also to the teachers and parents who supported the students in achieving such an excellent set of results. Changes to the GCE A2 Specification for June 2098 - this is for the A2.9 Module of the Specification. This change can be viewed on this site at GCE A2.9 Please note that the new GCE Specification for CCEA will be taught from September 2008. The significant change is that there are now two modules at both AS and A2. The exploration of relevant human experiences, previously examined through a single piece of Coursework (AS9), will be absorbed into the two modules of study. Similarly, the Synoptic Assessment (A2.9) will be absorbed into the two A2 modules. However, this change will not take place until pupils beginning their A2 studies in September 2009. Core Curriculum - the revision of the Religious Education Core Curriculum has been published in its final form and will be introduced into the teaching of Religious Studies from September 2007. We have been rather impatient and have introduced a form of it into our teaching programme from September 2005. It was based upon the draft document that we received many months ago. Only very minor amendments to our teaching schedules were required whenever we compared the draft scheme with the final draft of the Religious Education Core Curriculum. AS and A2 Past Papers up to June 2006, are now on this site - Past exam papers for all modules for Luke's Gospel and Early Church are available. You can choose AS Past Papers or A2 Past Papers or choose them from the Main Menu Updates for January 2007 will follow shortly. There is much to be gained from reviewing past papers and even attempting to answer the questions in draft form.
GCSE - Please note that we now have new Coursework titles from June 2005. Each piece of Coursework is marked out of 60. Take care to ensure you stay within the set word limit. Full details are available on the Religious Studies Site We are delighted with the most complimentary response of the Coursework Moderator to these new titles and the enthusiastic way the pupils have approached the new tasks. This is evident in the excellent marks attained this year. Well done class of June 2007!
