Areas of the life of Jesus are explored:

Palestine as Jesus knew it:

The identity of Jesus:

The teaching of Jesus

The deeds of Jesus:

The death of Jesus,

His resurrection and ascension.

(Note that the exam questions will make use of the Good News Bible translation.)

Pupils are expected to explore various aspects of the life of the Church by studying two contrasting traditions: usually Presbyterian and Roman Catholic.

Worship,Scripture, Prayer etc.

Sacraments of & the local Church

Special study of Baptism and Communion

Key personnel in the Church

Local organisation of the Church

Developing understanding and contact between Christian Churches

Pupils have the opportunity to examine areas of morality from a Christian perspective:

Friendship, sexuality & responsibility:

Different types of love: use of the Greek words for love required!

Marriage, separation & divorce

Parenting:

Care and respect for life - with a special study on abortion

Social responsibilities - work, unemployment & leisure

Rights of employer and employee

There are two examinations at the end of Year 12
Paper 1 (2 hrs) examines the Challenge of Jesus & the Christian Church.

Two pieces of Coursework (each of 750 words) are required.
