GCE A2 Level Religious Studies
This is a one year course which follows on from AS Level GCE
Students can continue studies at A2 Level to obtain a full GCE A Level

There are Three distinctive areas of study

A2 1 - The Theology of the Gospel of Luke
(30% of the A2 final mark) Assessed by Exam - (1 hour 20 minutes) 2 questions from 4

Studies will centre around:

Christianity according to Luke

Religious themes in Luke's Gospel

Theological significance of the words and deeds of Jesus

A2 4 - Development of the Christian Church in the Roman Empire to AD 325
(30% of the A2 final mark) Assessed by Exam - (1 hour 20 minutes) 2 questions from 4

Studies will centre around:

Worship, government, heresy and controversy

Church-State relations in the Roman Empire to AD325

Christian literature: Eastern and Western traditions

A2 9 - Exploring Connections: Synoptic Assessment Unit
(40% of the A2 final mark) Assessed by Exam - (1 hour) 1 question from 2

Please note that the themes chosen by CCEA to be explore in 2008 have been changed. However, they link even better to some of our topics for the AS.9 module (Coursework), e.g. "The teaching of Luke on sin and repentance and its relevance to society today"

Exploring the connections between:

Luke's Gospel & the Early Church and how these connections relate to the themes of either: Faith or Sin or Alienation.
